Servings: 12
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American, Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 Package Hawaiian rolls (12)
  • 1 Package Proscuitto (optional)
  • 2-3 Small Tomatoes, sliced (I like Roma)
  • 1 Package Mozzarella log, sliced (a pre-sliced log is easiest)
  • 1 Bunch Fresh Basil (leaves pulled off, chop extra for garnish)
  • 1 Balsamic Glaze (for drizzling)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (brushing)
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Equipment

  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 2QT Baking Dish
  • 1 Serrated Knife

Instructions

  1. Using a serrated knife, cut the tops off the Hawaiian rolls and set aside.
  2. Place the bottoms of the rolls in a lightly greased baking dish and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  3. Layer proscuitto (if using), tomatoes, mozzarella, then basil leaves on the bottoms of the rolls. Brush tops. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the tops of the rolls on the sliders. Then, use your hand to hold the rolls in place and cut through the sliders with your serrated knife so they come apart easily after baking.
  5. Brush the tops of the rolls with EVOO
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 or until the tops of the buns are golden brown and the mozzarrella is melty.
  7. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and garnish with chopped basil. Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

**Don't grease the bottom of the baking dish too much or the bottom buns could be too soggy.
**Don't skip cutting the sliders after assembly! They will be much easier to pull apart after baking if you do this.
**Serve right out of the oven or make ahead of time and warm up in the oven when ready to serve.
