What Makes This Recipe Great
Fresh Ingredients = Fresh Flavors. These caprese bites are just so delicious, especially when the tomatoes and basil are fresh and in season.
Simple Prep, Big Impact. Calling it a recipe is even a little deceiving since all you do is gather your ingredients and assemble them on a skewer or toothpick.
Great for Any Gathering. Whether you’re hosting or attending a casual weekend hangout or a more formal party, this appetizer fits right in. It’s light enough to serve before a big meal but yummy enough to be enjoyed on its own.

How To Make Caprese Salad Bites
Equipment:
- Toothpicks, cocktail picks or small skewers
- Serving platter
Ingredients:
- Fresh Cherry Tomatoes
- Fresh Mozzarella Balls
- Fresh Basil Leaves
- Balsamic Glaze
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions:
Assemble the bites on a toothpick, starting with the tomato, then a basil leaf, and ending with the mozzarella ball. Place bites on a serving platter or plate. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Serve & enjoy!
These are some of my favorite white platters for serving.

Recipe Variations
Add Prosciutto. For a savory twist, add thin slices of prosciutto or other thin-sliced meat to add a layer of salty richness that pairs beautifully with the freshness of the tomatoes and mozzarella.
Use Pesto. If you don’t prefer the sweetness of the balsamic glaze, use a drizzle of pesto instead.
Vegan Version. Use plant-based mozzarella alternatives and skip the balsamic glaze or pick up a vegan-friendly version if your grocery store carries one.

What To Serve With This Appetizer
You can truly serve anything with this caprese appetizer! An arugula, kale or Caesar salad would be a perfect combo. A sliced, toasted baguette would be a great addition, as would olives or nuts. Pair it with a light white wine.
Freezing & Storing Leftovers
This recipe does not freeze well, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for several days. For the best results, avoid dressing with olive oil or balsamic glaze until ready to serve again.
Ways to Use Leftovers
Salad Topper. Chop the leftover tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil and toss into a green salad for an easy lunch or side dish.
Make Bruschetta. Chop the leftover ingredients and pile the mixture on toasted baguette slices for an easy bruschetta.
Pasta Mix-In. Stir chopped leftovers into warm pasta with a splash of olive oil for a quick and delicious dinner.
Omelette Filling. Chop the leftover ingredients and add to your next omelette or frittata for a fresh breakfast.
