Why You’ll Love This Pineapple Recipe
Quick and easy. This recipe comes together in just 10 minutes, making it ideal when you want something fresh and flavorful without the fuss of long prep times or complicated steps. Perfect for weekday treats or last-minute gatherings when time isn’t on your side.
Naturally sweet with a smoky twist. Grilling pineapple amplifies its natural sugars while adding a subtle charred flavor that makes each bite feel just a little more decadent.
Versatile and refreshing. Grilled pineapple slices can be served as a snack, a side dish with grilled meats, or as a complement to salads and desserts.

How To Make Grilled Pineapple Slices
Equipment:
- Sharp Knife
- Pineapple Corer
- Tongs or Spatula
- Cooking Oil or Spray
- Outdoor Grill or Griddle (my favorite way to grill is on my Blackstone)
Ingredients:
- 1 Fresh Pineapple
- Parsley or other herb or spice (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the top and bottom off the pineapple and discard them. Using a pineapple corer, place it on the top of your pineapple and twist it through all the way to the bottom. Slowly pull it out to remove the flesh from the skin and remove the core.
- Make a slice down one side of the pineapple so the pineapple separates into round slices.
- Spray or brush your grill or griddle with cooking oil and turn it on medium-high heat.
- Once the grill is hot, using tongs or a spatula, place pineapple rings on the grill or griddle. Grill the pineapple slices for about 3 to 5 minutes per side or until you reach the desired doneness. Timing is personal preference and you really can’t go wrong unless they burn, so just keep an eye on the slices and the clock.
- Remove from the grill, transfer to a platter and serve immediately.

Pro Tips
#1 Use ripe pineapple. Choose a ripe pineapple that isn’t too firm. If the pineapple is bright green in the grocery store, it’s probably not quite ripe enough.
#2 Oil the grill grates lightly. Brush your grill grates or griddle with a little oil before placing the pineapple to keep it from sticking.
#3 Keep an eye on timing. Pineapple can quickly move from perfectly caramelized to charred and bitter, so watch it closely and flip after about 3-5 minutes per side. You want golden, not charred.
#4 Grill in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the grill to make sure each pineapple slice gets even heat and lovely grill marks.

Recipe Riffs & Swaps
Add a Spicy Kick. Sprinkle chili powder or cayenne over the pineapple before grilling for a fiery sweetness that pairs wonderfully with savory dishes.
Sprinkle on a Garnish. Lime zest, chili crisp, fresh herbs, ground cinnamon, or coconut flakes are all great garnishes to elevate your pineapple slices.
Skewers for Easy Handling. Cut pineapple into chunks and thread onto skewers or toothpicks to make grilled pineapple kebabs.
Use Maple Syrub or Honey. Drizzle maple syrup or honey over your grilled pineapple for some added sweetness.
Make it a Dessert. Serve the pineapple up hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make a delicious, easy dessert.

Freezing & Storing Leftovers
Freezing: Grilled pineapple slices can be frozen by placing them in a single layer on a baking sheet to freeze individually after they’ve cooled. Once frozen, transfer to airtight bags and store for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge or enjoy straight from the freezer in smoothies.
Storing: Leftover grilled pineapple keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat briefly on a grill pan or enjoy cold as a refreshing snack.
Ways to Use Leftovers
Toss leftover grilled pineapple into the blender to add to your favorite fruit smoothie. Or dice it up and throw it on top of a salad or mix it into a salsa. The sky is the limit!
